NASA Administrator Bill Nelson, taking part in a University of Virginia live stream event hosted by Larry Sabato. Much of his participation covered a range of topics you might expect from the head of NASA. He spoke about current efforts to detect and possibly deflect incoming asteroids (the DART mission) and a potential space race between the United States and China. Toward the end of the live stream, however, seemingly unbidden by the host or the viewers, Nelson suddenly launched into a discussion of UFOs, though we’re supposed to call them UAP (unidentified aerial phenomena) these days. What he had to say really perked up the ears of the entire ufology community and is probably giving even more headaches to the Pentagon and the Department of Defense. The reason is that he appeared to reveal new information that had previously been hidden from the public, including the material included in the June 25, 2021 congressional report from the UAP Task Force. Over at The Debrief, Micah Hanks has the details.
“Before we leave,” Nelson interjected near the end of the live stream, “I haven’t even talked about the search for extraterrestrial life.” …
“Now I know what you’ve seen is what those Navy pilots saw in 2004,” Nelson said during the live stream chat. “And there have been some three hundred sightings since then.”
“I’ve talked to those pilots,” Nelson added, saying that “they know they saw something, and their radars locked on to it. And then all of a sudden it was here on the surface, and then it’s there. And they don’t know what is. And we don’t know what it is.”
Nelson went on to reiterate that we don’t know where the objects are coming from or who controls them, but “we hope” that it’s not an adversary such as Russia or China. That would have been more than enough to set any number of tongues wagging in the ufology community, but Nelson wasn’t done. He went on to wax a bit poetic on the vastness of the universe and man’s place in it, asking where we came from and where our journey is taking us.
“But it’s something,” Nelson added. “And so this is a mission that we’re constantly looking [at]. Who is out there? Who are we? How did we get here? How did we become as we are? How did we develop? How did we civilize? And are those same conditions out there in a universe that has billions of other suns in billions of other galaxies?”
“It’s so large I can’t conceive it,” the NASA chief said.
When Sabato followed up on these points, he asked what Nelson thought the possibilities were. The NASA chief once again suggested (without saying it directly) that the universe is “so big” and there might even be other universes, the possibilities are endless. He said, “who am I to say that planet Earth is the only location of a life form that is civilized and organized like ours?”
These remarks were once again rather remarkable and are probably giving the folks back at the Pentagon fits. We all know what the company line from the DoD communications office is, as detailed in the June 25 report. There were roughly 130 reports of UAP that they couldn’t identify but they couldn’t rule out anything in most cases. And nobody is supposed to even mention the possibility of life beyond the confines of Earth unless speaking of possible microbial life on other planets in our solar system.
Nobody who follows ufology ever bought that story for a minute. Those were just the cases they were willing to talk to Congress about and virtually no juicy details were given to the public. But Lue Elizondo and other insiders have long said that the true number of cases is far, far higher, and much better photos and videos exist. We’re just not being shown them.
And now, along comes the Director of NASA “saying the quiet part our loud” again and saying the number of sightings is probably three times higher than what was previously admitted. Nelson has done this before, spilling at least a few of the beans on Fox News and CNN, along with various interviews he’s done with other outlets.
All of this leads me to wonder why Nelson, at this late stage in his career, has grown so enthusiastic about pushing the UFO discussion forward. Clearly, he has no reason to fear any sort of ridicule factor given his background and credentials and the fact that he could obviously retire at any time he felt like it and thumb his nose at the mainstream government powers that be.
But yet again… why? Why is Bill Nelson so willing and almost eager to bring the topic forward? Let’s remember that he was an officer in the Army during the Vietnam war and spent plenty of time in the air. He has also been to space and spent a fair stretch of time in orbit. Is it really so outlandish to ask the question… what did Bill Nelson see? That’s assuming he saw anything of course, but wouldn’t it be fascinating to find out that he’s chasing the tail of this snake because he is an experiencer himself? Keep in mind that when Harry Reid first arranged the funding for the AATIP program, he did it with the help of two Senators who were World War 2 fighter pilots, one of whom later confessed to having seen the Foo Fighters while flying combat missions.
That sort of thing can clearly change people’s perspectives and motivations. Is that what’s going on with Bill Nelson? Many researchers have been combing through the archive of his writings and statements looking for hints, but there’s nothing solid so far. Then again, Nelson came up through the ranks in the lengthy period when talking about such things was verboten unless you wanted your career to quickly crash and burn. (And that period only ended very recently.) Perhaps he’s just feeling a bit more “unbridled” now? Hopefully we shall find out in good time.
